Pampa Cortés embodies the quintessential 'compadrito' - the original bad boys of Buenos Aires. As he says, "I owe my life to Tango. Thanks to her, I've traveled all over the world, met many wonderful people, and earned my living."
Thanks to the Julio Iglesias "Tango" CD, people fell in love w/ the tango all over the world. Pampa's romantic presence on the back cover helped, we're sure.
Cortés had been all over the world in his long & prosperous career. Japan, Belgium, Chile, Mexico, France, Germany, Guatemala, Canada, and of course, the US are but a few of his ports of call. Here he poses with Miuki, his Japanese tango partner when he lived there in the 1980s.
Pampa began his professional dance career at age 15 as a folkloric dancer. Here is a photo of Pampa & Andrea taken before he moved to the US in the early 1990s.
