This new dance production is directed by Argentine dance
star Pampa Cortés and highlights the many forms of rhythmic footwork found in
various dance cultures of North and South America and Spain. The featured dance
companies are La Tania (Spain), Ensambles Ballet Folklórico de San Francisco
(Mexico), Valverde Dance (Peru), Barbary Coast Cloggers (USA), Ballet Pampa
Argentina and Tango del Momento de Pampa Cortés (Argentina).
From the dramatic flair of
flamenco, the flashing legs of the Argentine tango, the playful courtship
dances of Peru, the African roots of Mexico, the bravado of the gauchos, to the
cheerful camaraderie of California miners, the audience will experience a
journey through the fancy footwork of multiple cultures across the Americas.
This program is the first in the Fort Mason Presents
Inaugural Season, which is funded in part by Grants for the Arts.
